Converted from the system 12-based (PlayStation) Taito arcade game called Ray Storm, which was then converted to the Sony's PSOne. Quite why it received the name change is unsure, but this sequel is now generally polygon based with some enemy sprites, and while a decent game in it's own right, it doesn't hold a candle to the original Layer Section. I'm not saying it's not worth buying - if you're a shooter fan, it's probbaly worth adding to your collection at some point - it's just that you shouldn't expect more of the same if you own the original. With the game now in 3D, the game has a slight Silpheed/Axelay look to it. The graphics are quite nice, but not outstanding, and you just don't get that amazing feeling as you got while playing the first game.
