In Japan Virtual On 2 has a large cult following. It's essentially a mech robot 1-on-1 fighting game, converted from the Model 3 arcade, and should be found in encyclopedias under "Hardcore Games." Yes, this game is truly hardcore - it's incredibly difficult, and takes weeks just to begin to get into it, and probably years to master. If you're the type of person who likes to finish a game in a day, then look elsewhere, because this is in many ways the F355 Challenge of combat games. It's a fantastic conversion, and in Japan is one of the most highly rated games on any system. The control is quite difficult to get to grips with, something which is compounded by the fact that the game itself is so difficult to learn. The arcade featured twin joysticks for smoother, faster control, and Sega actually released a Twin Stick peripheral for the Dreamcast. They do make the game better to play, so if you're serious about this game, you should consider picking up a set. It's also one of the few 2-player link up games on the Dreamcast, and is truly amazing when played this way! If you fancy something really deep and you think you can handle it, you may end up thinking this is one of the best games ever made - there are a lot of Japanese gamers who do!
