Truly a brilliant multiplayer game from NCS, which has to be one of the overall favourites of the entire PC Engine catalogue! The sequel is something which can be enjoyed as a single player game far more than the original. It has a lot more content that the original: more tracks, different leagues, different types of vehicle (car, tank, & hovercraft), and a LOT more weapons. However, all of these things add up to what feels like a very different game to the original. It's also less strategic. As a good old blast the hell out of each other game, this beats the original hands-down. However, overall, I think the original is still the better of the two in terms of purity, but I don't imagine everybody would agree with me. I'm not quite sure what happened to this game... 10 years ago, it was fairly rare and on the fringes of being expensive, even in Japan. Not it doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar. Could this really be down to the simple fact that it's not a shooter and nothing more? It's the only reason I can come up with as it really is a great game!
