Choaniki Kyukyoku Otokonogyakushu 2 or Super Gynoug 2 as it's known outside Japan is the official sequel to Gynoug on the Mega Drive. Super CD owners and fans of the Gynoug (and there are many) really are in for a treat with this one, as it contains some of the most bizarre art and game design ever seen in a shooter, the kind that made the original Gynoug such a smash on the MD. The graphics in G2 are exceptional, all the enemy sprites and backgrounds are animated well and the bosses are HUGE full-screen affairs. My only gripe is that the game feels more like Keio Flying Squadron on Mega CD than it's MD cart relative: gone is the sinister and dark atmosphere that I so liked in Gynoug (cry..sniffle). On the plus side G2 still features the winged hero from the original and also introduces a new character to the series, in the form of an Angel in a see-through dress! Both are selectable for use in the single player game and for multi-tap owners there is a superb 2-player mode included. Few people have played Super Gynoug 2 and even less have owned it which is kind of as weird as the game itself, considering what a big hit Gynoug was on Mega Drive! SUPER RARE and no mistake.
